What is the function of a longpass filter?
A longpass filter selectively transmits light with longer wavelengths while blocking light with shorter wavelengths. The filter is designed to transmit light that is above a specific wavelength cuton, known as the filter's "cuton wavelength," and to reflect or absorb light that is below this wavelength.
Where is a longpass filter used?
In industrial applications, longpass filters are used to remove unwanted shorter wavelength light from a light source or to separate different wavelengths of light. For example, in fluorescence microscopy, a longpass filter can be used to block the excitation light and allow only the longer wavelength fluorescence emission light to be imaged.
Defined by 1” (25.4mm) diameter and 32 turns per inch pitch, C-Mount thread is a popular camera mount in machine vision industry. Schneider-Kreuznach offers for most filters a CMT mount option. So that filters can go in any C-Mount based mechanics in vision systems.
Another popular application, CMT mounts can easyly be used for, is placing a filter in front of the sensor into the camera. The extension of the back flange distance has to be considered for imaging applications.

SN1-Mount was designed for in machine vision industry popular M30.5x0.5 thread. With its high clear aperture, vignetting can be avoided, even for wide angle applications. The filter is glued into the mount, in order to secure it against vibrations when integrated into robots or production lines. It is ideal to be used in automated fabrication.

The Schneider-Kreuznach LP 365 color neutral longpass filter, formerly "IF 010", keeps unwanted UV light away from the camera and protects the lens from damage. To achieve color neutrality, the filter transmits the entire VIS range from 365 nm to the NIR range.
The LP 430 is a magnetron sputtered interference filter. It is characterised by steep edges that allow only the desired wavelengths to pass. This blocks interfering light below the cut-off wavelength of 430nm. UV light is excluded. NIR light up to about 2000nm can be transmitted. This filter can be used as a protective glass for VIS-NIR lenses as it allows all relevant wavelengths to pass.
The Schneider Kreuznach absorption filter LP 825 blocks all wavelengths below 825 nm and blocks visible light. It allows all wavelengths between 825 nm and 2000 nm to pass. The NIR (near infrared, wavelength ca. 900 nm to 1200 nm) with an average of over 95 %. The filter transmits the SWIR range above this between 1200 nm and 2000 nm with values between 70 % and 80 %.
