Schneider-Kreuznach introduces new Radiant Soft Filter
Schneider-Kreuznach, known for hide-the-trick Classic Soft® filters, introduces another essential addition to its world-class diffusion line, the new Radiant Softs.
These superior highlight controllers’ are capable of toning down skin imperfections, while still controlling contrast and blooming around in-frame lights.
Due to a proprietary new engineering technique, these water white glass filters offer an expanded palette of in-camera effects to the shooter. Available in strengths of ¼, ½, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, Radiant Softs’ prevent the need to reset the overall contrast grade of the scene after the desired diffusion is applied. This versatile family can do the job of improving skin tones at a low strength, and then add a highlight bloom effect when desired, at higher strengths.
After testing the filters, cinematographer Ted Hayash, explains, “The goals of making people look good on camera don’t often go hand in hand with blooming highlights. So, the new Schneider-Kreuznach Radiant Soft approach can work better in that it is effective on skin tones without adding an overall effect to the image.”
